This Wednesday (03/09/2016) was our fourth day in Santiago, Chile and undoubtedly the busiest one. The day started with a quick reception and an event hosted by INACAP (see http://www.inacap.cl/portal) and the American Embassy in Chile. Professor Michael Goldberg from Case Western Reserve University presented his take on innovation and explored the topic “beyond the Silicon Valley”. This topic is particularly interesting for Chile’s current agenda on pushing entrepreneurship and the pursuit to create an innovation eco system.
Following the day, we visited the famous governmental Start-Up Chile, which provides grants for start-up companies willing to start and relocate their business to Santiago. In my humble opinion, what the Chilean Government is trying to do is extremely difficult and at high cost, the program is on-line for 5 years and there is no strong successful case.
During the INACAP event, we did a quick brain storming session with some Chilean students and entrepreneurs about how to unlock entrepreneurship activity in Chile. During our session, we came up with the proposed solution below.
